Abstract
⺠Biocontrol is a current strategy used to prevent aflatoxin contamination of crops. ⺠Genetic defects identified in Aspergillus flavus K49 ensure its safe application in fields. ⺠K49, AF36, and prospective TX9-8 biocontrol strains have a shared phylogeny. ⺠This biocontrol group consists of recombinant strains derived from specific ancestors. ⺠Biocontrol candidate strains can easily be selected from this non-aflatoxigenic group.
