Abstract
►Comparative genomic tools are useful for identifying DNA fragments specific to Salmonella serogroups. ►This novel multiplex PCR could correctly identify Salmonella serogroups A, B, C1, C2, and D. ►A total 32 DNA fragments were identified, which contain 34 conserved genes specific to Salmonella serogroups A through D. ►Most of 34 genes are probably associated with traits that confer specific serotypic chraracteristics to Salmonella serogroups.
