Abstract
⺠The main nutrients targeted for biofortification are Fe, Zn, Ca, Se, and vitamins. ⺠Rice is the best example of a successful biofortified plant food. ⺠For increased biofortification, fertilization can be combined with breeding. ⺠Ionomics tools can identify genotypes with higher micronutrient levels. ⺠'Omics' techniques can assess the efficacy and safety of the biofortified plant-food.
