Abstract
⺠Survey of diarrhoeagenic E. coli in minced beef and boerewors. ⺠Evaluation of E. coli serotypes involved. ⺠High counts of E. coli and coliforms indicated poor hygiene in food supply chain. ⺠The dominant virotype was EPEC and the most virulent one was VTEC. ⺠Low incidence of VTEC gives reassurance to producers, retailers and consumers.
