Abstract
⺠O. vulgare essential oil and carvacrol inhibited the viability of L. monocytogenes. ⺠Exposure of cells to sublethal amounts of the substances induced no protection. ⺠Cells grown in increasing amounts of the substances showed minor changes in tolerance.
