Abstract
► Melatonin was detected for the first time in prominent amounts in pomegranate wines. ► Melatonin was not detected in pomegranate juices. ► A significant role of the cultivar used for wine elaboration on melatonin content was noted. ► Fermentation step had a marked influence on the melatonin formation.
