- Several taste-nutrient relationships were identified.
- The competing tastes modulate taste-nutrient relationships (dose-response).
- Salty and sweet tastes, and fat sensation, are associated with nutrient-rich foods.
- The gustatory system should perhaps not be only regarded as a specific nutrient analyzer.
- The usefulness of the gustatory system may be more general.
