Algorytm diagnostyczno-terapeutyczny wrodzonego zarażenia Toxoplasma gondii

Congenital T. gondii infection is associated with lower neonatal parameters (a birth body weight, a week of pregnancy, Apgar score). Among the analyzed factors of intrauterine infection period of pregnancy in which infection occurred was statistically significant. Congenital toxoplasmosis was found significantly more often in newborns whose mothers become infected by T. gondii in the third trimester of pregnancy. Serological testing of mothers has low predictive value and should not be the only basis for the diagnosis of congenital toxoplasmosis. Statistically significant predictive value was obtained for the changes observed in the fontanelle ultrasonography (p < 0.0001), neurological (p < 0.0001) and ophthalmologic (p < 0.0001) examination.
