Infertility treatment and fertility-specific distress: A longitudinal analysis of a population-based sample of U.S. women

► This is one of very few studies of infertility to look at those who do not seek treatment as well as those who do. ► Infertility treatment causes distress over and above that caused by infertility itself. ► Fertility-specific distress is higher among infertile women who do not have a live birth. ► In general longer duration of treatment results in increased distress.
