As part of an optional course on medical ethics in the second year of medical school, four students were asked in 2008-2009 to express their opinion on the new bioethics law in France. These students chose to discuss the question of embryo screening or preimplantation genetic diagnosis. This article reports the teaching approach for medical ethics and the students' opinion on the usefulness of this type of course in the medical curriculum.
