Increased oxidative stress, the renin-angiotensin system, and sympathetic overactivation induce hypertension in kidney androgen-regulated protein transgenic mice

► Mice over-expressing kidney androgen-regulated protein (KAP) in kidney are hypertensive. ► Blockade or increased removal of superoxide production reduces this hypertension. ► Blockade of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) reverts this hypertension. ► Blockade of the β-adrenergic system also decreases arterial pressure. ► Hypertension of KAP Tg mice is based on increased brain oxidative stress and RAS.
