Evaluation of systemic microvascular endothelial function using laser speckle contrast imaging

► Laser speckle (LS) is a useful technique in the evaluation of endothelial function. ► LS can be coupled with transdermal iontophoretic delivery of acetylcholine (ACh). ► Iontophoresis charges up to 1.5 mC do not induce nonspecific microvascular effects. ► Microvascular responses induced by ACh are higher in young women than in young men. ► LS identifies individuals with microvascular endothelial dysfunction.
