Role of potassium channels in the antidepressant-like effect of folic acid in the forced swimming test in mice

► Our results reinforce the notion that folic acid has antidepressant-like effect. ► K+ channels inhibitors plus folic acid produce an antidepressant effect in the FST. ► K+ channel opener reverses the antidepressant-like effect of folic acid in the FST. ► The effect of folic acid in the FST may involve inhibition of K+ channels.
