Prise en charge de l'hémophile aux urgences

Haemophilia is a rare congenital haemorrhagic disorder due to deficiency in factor VIII (haemophilia A) or factor IX (haemophilia B). Arrival of a patient suffering from haemophilia in an emergency care unit may raise some issues. Some simple knowledge can help the non-specialist to manage patients with haemophilia in emergency: as soon as antihaemophilic factor is infused in sufficient amount, patients haemostasis becomes normal. It is thus of the utmost importance to infuse antihaemophilic in nearly all clinical settings: documented or suspected bleeding but also in settings not directly related to haemophilia. In these cases, after antihaemophilic factor infusions, that can be repeated, usual emergency care protocols can be applied.
