In the Sea of Differentials: Multiple Endocrine Neoplasias, Part 1

An unusual challenge faced by primary care providers is putting the puzzle pieces together to identify a rare disorder called multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN). There are several syndromes with multiple glandular involvement affecting patients under the age of 50. Multiple endocrine neoplasia is an autosomal dominant disorder that predisposes tumors to develop within the parathyroid glands, pituitary gland, and pancreas, as well as other multiple organs. This presentation details a case study involving a 20-year-old woman and her journey to the final diagnosis of MEN.
