The corpus callosum concentrates the highest amount of telencephalic white matter in the human brain. Its interhemispheric connections between almost every cortical area explains its highly functional value. Its classical morphology at the level of the midline gives a false appearance of this commissure. We present its cellular origins, its myelotopy and its principal functions as they appear on optic microscopy, in magnetic resonance diffusion and activation imaging.
