A growing number of elderly people and an increase in needs for specific, adapted, services for people over 65 years old resulted in the development of new support forms and methods worldwide in the last few decades. Mostly, these concern social support and healthcare, meeting the specific needs of elderly people. The paper provides an overview of current common support and care services for people with dementia and their carers in Poland. It identifies the care and support needs of the target group and presents a model of integrated support developed by Rose-Marie Dröes in the Netherlands – The Meeting Centres Support Programme (MCSP). Meeting Centers offer support to both groups – people with dementia and their carers in a local, friendly, community center. A small professional team provide activities in each center supported by volunteers and attuned to the individual needs of participants. Moreover, the Meeting Centers Support Programme is an evidence-based model of support in the Netherlands since the mid-1990s.
