Adénomes hypophysaires géants

We report three cases of giant pituitary adenoma observed in three black men from sub-Sahara Africa. Mean age was 30 years. These patients were explored with Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) with the following sequences: T1, T2, Flair and T2* and 3DT1 with gadolinium injection for coronal, sagittal and axial sections. The mean size of the giant pituitary adenomas was 49.5 cm. The MRI showed a mass which was hypointense on the T1 sequences and hyperintense on the T2 sequences with heterogeneous peripheral contrast enhancement. Suprasellar extension was observed in all three cases and endo- and infrasellar in two and laterosellar to the cavernous sinuses in one.
