Le bloc du carré des lombes et ses indications

Quadratus lumborum block is a diffusion block of the posterior abdominal wall. The diffusion space is limited by the transversalis fascia and include the quadratus lumborum muscle, the oblique muscles and the transversus abdominis muscle. Three sites of injection have been identified. The nerve endings blocked are the last intercostal nerves, the ilioinguinal and the iliohypogastric nerve. The local anaesthetic solution is injected under ultrasound guidance using a low frequency probe. This block could appropriately produce analgesia for surgical procedures below the umbilicus.
