Preventing, Detecting, and Addressing Opioid Overprescribing

Regulatory boards are challenged to combat an emerging opioid epidemic fueled by prescription drugs. A Tennessee prescription drug monitoring program stimulated interdisciplinary collaboration that has reduced opioid use, misuse, and abuse. This article offers ideas for teamwork in the areas of practice, education, and licensure.
