Avaskuläre Köpfchennekrose als Komplikation nach chirurgischer Hallux valgus Korrektur

The avascular head necrosis (AVN) is a rare complication of hallux valgus surgery which still should be avoided. In nonrecent literature, the lateral release is seen as one of the main reasons for AVN. More recent literature does not support this thesis. In order to avoid AVN, the dorsal and especially the plantar capsular insertion at the MT I head should be left intact when performing an osteotomy. As revision method after AVN MTPI arthrodesis with or without bone interposition has proven to show good results.
