Preoperative depressive symptoms are not predictors of postoperative seizure control in patients with mesial temporal lobe epilepsy and hippocampal sclerosis

► Preoperative depressive symptoms were assessed by BDI in patients with mTLE-HS. ► Post-op seizure outcome was compared in patients with and without depressive symptoms. ► There was no significant difference of postoperative seizure outcome in the 2 groups. ► There was a trend to a higher frequency of “running down” in patients with BDI ≥ 11.
