Microarray expression analysis in idiopathic and LRRK2-associated Parkinson's disease

► Transcriptomics identifies altered pathways in putamen of idiopathic PD patients. ► These pathways are related to synaptic plasticity and cell signalling cascades. ► These changes are probably adaptive to dopamine denervation. ► The same pathways are altered in an asymptomatic LRRK2 G2019S mutation carrier. ► PD patients who are carriers of the G2019S mutation lack these expression changes.
