Hes1 functions downstream of growth factors to maintain oligodendrocyte lineage cells in the early progenitor stage

▶PDGF+FGF2 maintain oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OLPs) in an immature state. ▶Activation of Erk signal is sufficient to maintain OLP in an immature state. ▶In OLP, Hes1 is induced by PDGF+FGF2 treatment via Erk signal. ▶Hes1 suppresses OLP maturation. ▶Erk negatively regulates OLP maturation by cell cycle progression and Hes1 induction.
