Acanthamoeba royreba: Morphological features and in vitro cytopathic effect

► Actin was detected in abundance in this amoeba. ► Incubation of target cells with conditioned medium did not produce a significant structural damage even at 24 h. ► In vitro assays suggest that the cytopathogenicity of this amoeba is mainly contact-dependent.
