Cadmium distribution in the root tissues of solanaceous plants with contrasting root-to-shoot Cd translocation efficiencies

▶ Rootstock Solanum torvum is effective in reducing Cd in eggplant fruits. ▶ Cd was accumulated around the endodermis and the pericycle in the root of S. torvum. ▶ Low ability to efflux Cd toward the xylem restricted Cd transport from root to shoot.
