In vivo analysis of antigenotoxic and antimutagenic properties of two Brazilian Cerrado fruits and the identification of phenolic phytochemicals

► We study exotic fruits gabiroba/ murici for genotoxicity and mutagenicity effects. ► Both fruits protect hepatocytes and erythrocytes cells from DNA breaks. ► High concentration of Murici provided the highest protection against H2O2 and CPA. ► Propyl/ethyl gallate, catechin, ferulic acid and resveratrol were the compounds found in the fruits.
