Charcot foot is associated with a peripheral neuropathy as underlying condition and is most frequently seen in patients with long-standing diabetes mellitus. The condition is a rare but potentially disabling disease. Radiologic imaging plays an important role in the management of this disease. It is important to be familiar with the typical imaging characteristics of a Charcot foot and its complications. Magnetic resonance imaging is the method of choice in establishing an early diagnosis, monitoring the disease, and for early detection of complications.
