Manufacturing of agarose-based chromatographic adsorbents - Effect of ionic strength and cooling conditions on particle structure and mechanical strength

► The effect of processing conditions on the properties of agarose beads was examined. ► AFM and micromanipulation was used for characterization of the particles. ► Pore size and mechanical strength increase with ionic strength. ► The same trends are observed when particles are cooled slowly. ► The results can be used to prepare particles with improved properties.
