GABA system dysfunction in autism and related disorders: From synapse to symptoms

► Autism Spectrum Disorders and other neurodevelopmental disorders share symptoms. ► Impaired GABA signalling via GABAA receptors is seen in all these syndromes. ► GABA abnormalities are thus emerging as a final common pathway in these disorders. ► We discuss how GABA defects may relate to the symptoms of these conditions.
