Anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative effect of curcumin in connective tissue type mast cell

► Curcumin inhibited degranulation and elevation of intracellular calcium in connective tissue type mast cells. ► Curcumin inhibited production of intracellular reactive oxygen species and cell membrane lipid peroxide. ► Protein tyrosine- and threonine-phosphorylations were also inhibited by curcumin. ► We show a novel effect of curcumin and a potential use for inflammation-related chronic diseases.
