Performance of two different types of anodes in membrane electrode assembly microbial fuel cells for power generation from domestic wastewater

► A membrane electrode assembly minimized electrode spacing and internal resistance. ► Use of mesh carbon anodes could reduce reactor cost, but brush anodes provided better and consistent performance. ► Domestic wastewater was used as a feed source. ► There was good BOD and COD removal from the wastewater.
