Syntheses and characterization of η6-hexamethylbenzeneruthenium(II)-β-diketone complexes: their reactions with mono- and bidentate neutral ligands

The reaction of [(η6-C6Me6)Ru(μ-Cl) Cl]21 with sodium β-diketonates in methanol gives orange-yellow colored neutral complexes. These compounds undergo a variety of substitution reactions with neutral ligands to afford mononuclear and binuclear-bridged complexes.
