Role of polyol moiety of amphotericin B in ion channel formation and sterol selectivity in bilayer membrane

Additional hydroxy-bearing AmB were prepared from bioengineered 7-oxo AmB. Their efficacy and sterol selectivity in K+ flux assays revealed the importance of intramolecular hydrogen bonds in the rigidity of the macrolactone ring.
