Characterization and antibacterial properties of genipin-crosslinked chitosan/poly(ethylene glycol)/ZnO/Ag nanocomposites

► GC/PEG/ZnO films were prepared by casting solution. ► Films showed the pH-sensitive swelling and the improved mechanical properties. ► The antimicrobial activity of films increased as the content of ZnO increased. ► The antibacterial activity was improved by doping ZnO with Ag nanoparticles.
