A feasible approach for nonuniformity correction in IRFPA with nonlinear response

Taking into account the nonlinearity of the photoresponse characteristic in infrared focal plane array, a feasible approach for nonuniformity correction of IRFPA's is proposed in this paper. The correction formula deduced from this approach is the best approximation polynomial of the analytic formula through theoretical analysis. Therefore, it can be regarded as the optimal correction polynomial. Furthermore, a small number of correction factors and the simple correction procedure make it suitable to implement by hardware. The comparisons of simulation results show that the performance of this scheme is more perfect than that of the two-point correction, the piecewise linear algorithm and Schulz's scheme.
