Natural polyphenols inhibit different steps of the process of transthyretin (TTR) amyloid fibril formation

► Transthyretin aggregates are toxic to neuronal cells. ► EGCG and curcumin inhibit transthyretin aggregation and originate different small non-toxic off-pathway oligomers. ► EGCG and curcumin efficiently disaggregated pre-formed TTR amyloid fibrils. ► EGCG and curcumin might be used as lead compounds to new therapeutic approaches on transthyretin amyloidoses.
