Chemical neuroprotection in the cochlea: The modulation of dopamine release from lateral olivocochlear efferents
چکیده انگلیسی
► LOC efferents release different transmitters in the cochlea, including dopamine (DA). ► DA release in the cochlea protects against noise exposure or ischemia. ► DA is released by a feed back loop involving the brainstem. ► DA release is also modulated locally in the cochlea (ultra-short feed back loop). ► Pharmacological enhancement of cochlear DA release could be used for otoprotection.
