Digit ratio, polychromatism and associations with endurance and antipredator behaviour in male painted dragon lizards

► Digit ratio is of interest as a putative marker for early steroid hormone exposure. ► Lizard digit ratio was negatively related to antipredator escape response times. ► There was no relationship between digit ratio and endurance. ► Bibbed males had lower endurance and shorter antipredator escape response times. ► Head coloration predicted endurance, but was unrelated to antipredator behaviour.
