Modeling clustered non-stationary Poisson processes for stochastic simulation inputs

► We introduce the concept of change point detection and estimation in stochastic simulation input data modeling. ► A modified parametric method and a nonparametric technique are proposed for detecting and estimating change locations. ► We compare our proposed methods in terms of accuracy and precision metrics. ► The impacts of accurate input data modeling on deriving validated simulation outputs are demonstrated.
