An investigation on the fluorescence quenching of 9-aminoacridine by certain pyrimidines

► Interaction of an antitumor drug 9-aminoacridine with uracils and its derivatives were probed through various spectroscopic measurements. ► Lifetime measurements support the static quenching mechanism. ► Binding constant and number of binding sites were calculated from the fluorescence quenching data. ► Rehm-Weller equation confirms the electron transfer process. ► The observed results will have great importance in pharmacy, pharmacology and biochemistry.
