Synthesis, DNA-binding and antioxidant activity studies of naphthoxazole compounds

Four new naphthoxazole compounds 1-4 have been synthesized and characterized. Their DNA-binding behaviors were investigated by absorption titration, luminescence spectra, viscosity measurements and cleavage of pBR322 DNA upon irradiation or hydrolytic conditions. The antioxidant activity of these compounds against hydroxyl radical was also studied.
