The four ionic manganese(III) and iron(III) dipicolinate complexes of formula (Hpia)[FeIII(dipic)2]·3H2O, (Hpia)[MnIII(dipic)2]·(H2dipic)·6H2O, (Hinia)[FeIII(dipic)2]·3H2O and (Hinia)[MnIII(dipic)2]·3H2O, where dipic2− = pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylate anion (dipicolinate anion), H2dipic = pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid, Hpia+ = 2-carboxamidepyridinium (picolinamidium) cation and Hinia+ = 4-carboxamidepyridinium (isonicotinamidium) cation have been prepared and characterized by the single-crystal X-ray structure analysis. The SQUID-magnetic data were fitted to a zero-field splitting model revealing a slight magnetic anisotropy: |D|/hc ∼ 3 cm−1 for Mn(III).

Four manganese(III) and iron(III) dipicolinato (dipic) complexes were synthetized. The structures show distorted octahedral chromophores MN2O4 (M = Mn(III), Fe(III)). The magnetic data were fitted to a zero-field splitting model revealing a slight magnetic anisotropy.Figure optionsDownload as PowerPoint slide
