The ac conductivity of the compound [C12H17N2]2CdCl4 has been measured in the temperature range 343–402 K and the frequency range 209 Hz–5 MHz. The Cole–Cole (Z″ versus Z′) plots are well fitted to an equivalent circuit model. The variation of the values of these elements with temperatures confirmed the result obtained by the electric measurements. The single semicircle indicates only one primary mechanism for the electrical conduction within [C12H17N2]2CdCl4. The conductivity follows the Arrhenius relation with different activation energies and conduction mechanisms: two temperature regions with activation energies ΔE1 = 1.09(5) eV and ΔE2 = 0.33(1) eV. Analysis of the experimental data based on the jump relaxation model, showed that translation motion of the charge carrier and reorientation hopping between equivalent sites of the metal chloride anion and the cations groups are responsible for the observed ac conductivity in the temperatures regions I (343–363 K) and II (363–402 K).
