Key additions to WC-based hardmetals

Thanks to its respect for hardmetals as the powerhouse of the powder metallurgy industry, the EPMA and its members can always be relied upon for in-depth research of structures, properties and applications of sintered carbides. Ken Brookes reviews two such investigations, selected from the EPMA's 2009 conference in Copenhagen, and adds comments based on his own experience of the technology.
