Study of environment friendly porous suspended breakwater for the Egyptian Northwestern Coast

► Many traditional coastal protection structures were implemented at Northwestern Coast of Egypt to resist severe waves. ► An environment friendly breakwater was introduced, consisting of 2 sets of horizontal strips set on 2 rows of vertical piles. ► The performance of the developed breakwater has been done using CFD technique and the design curves have been introduced. ► Two case studies at two locations at the Northwestern Coast of Egypt have been performed. ► The results of case studies showed that the developed breakwater model is environment friendly.
