• Conductivities Λ for ZnSO4/MgSO4 + sucrose/trehalose + water systems were measured.
• Values of Λ0 for ½ZnSO4 and ½MgSO4 decrease with increasing saccharide molality.
• Values of Λ0 for ½ZnSO4 and ½MgSO4 at a given mS are in the order: sucrose > trehalose.
• Values of Λ0 for ½ZnSO4 at given mS are larger than those for ½MgSO4.

Conductivities for ZnSO4/MgSO4 + sucrose/trehalose + water solutions were measured at 298.15 K. The limiting molar conductivities (Λ0) and association constants (KA) were derived using the Lee–Wheaton conductivity equation. From the obtained conductivity data, the values of the Walden product (Λ0η0) were also calculated. These parameters have been interpreted in terms of ion–ion and ion–solvent interactions in aqueous saccharide solutions.
