• The solubilities of carbon dioxide in aqueous mixtures of reline + monoethanolamine were measured.
• The CO2 partial pressures studied was up to 900 kPa.
• The temperature studied was (313.2 to 353.2) K.
• The measured data were represented satisfactorily by using the applied correlations.
• The CO2 absorption capacity of aqueous reline solution was improved by adding the MEA.

In this work, new experimental data on the solubility of carbon dioxide in aqueous binary solutions of reline and its ternary solutions with monoethanolamine (MEA) are reported. Measurements were performed at temperatures (313.2, 333.2, 353.2) K and pressures up to around 900 kPa using a (vapour + liquid) (vapour-recirculation) equilibrium apparatus. It was found that blending reline with MEA greatly improved the CO2 absorption capacity of aqueous reline solutions. The obtained solubility data (in terms of CO2 loading) were correlated with CO2 partial pressure, temperature, and solute (reline + MEA) concentration using a modified Kent–Eisenberg model. The model gave satisfactory representation of the experimental data at reasonable average absolute deviations between the experimental and the predicted CO2 partial pressures of 11.9% and 7.9%, for the binary and ternary systems, respectively.
