Effects of Salidroside on Myocardial Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury in Rats

AimTo investigate the effects of salidroside on myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury in rats caused by coronary artery ligation.MethodsRat coronary artery was ligated for 30 minutes before the release of the ligature, creating reperfusion. After reperfusion for 120 minutes, the sera were sampled and the biological activities of creatine kinase (CK) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) in the serum were determined; the amount of TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6 was assayed; the histology of the hearts in ischemia/reperfusion rats was also studied.ResultsAfter the treatment with salidroside of reperfusion coronary artery, the sera biological activities of CK and LDH were significantly reduced; the amount of TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6 was also markedly reduced. Histology showed that salidroside could mitigate the overall severity of the cardiomyopathy by reducing the inflammatory cell infiltration and ease the extent of focal necrosis.ConclusionSalidroside remarkably reduces the cardiac ischemia/reperfusion injury with some protective function of ischemic myocardium.
