Vécu et attentes des usagers d'une maternité francilienne

The French perinatal landscape has evolved. The debate started by users about a possibly less medicalised approach to birth, or rather, a less technology-oriented approach, has been taken up by the professionals. We have therefore tried to analyze the personal experience and expectations of a population from a living basin where a birth centre project exists within a Type III maternity structure. Thus, two questionnaires, one intended for the mothers and one for the fathers, were distributed in the postpartum wards of this maternity centre. The results showed that though two-thirds of users do not envisage a less medicalised approach to birth, and their current follow-up seems to be adaptive and the support satisfactory, these same users expect greater personalisation of this follow-up care at each period of the pregnancy and thereafter. We have thus issued some proposals focusing on the expertise of midwives in order to place these perinatal professionals at the centre of couple support.
